Volunteers

Information

GWYSL is Powered by Volunteers.

We are a non-profit, ALL-VOLUNTEER organization dedicated to youth soccer. We receive no public funds and all of our expenses are paid from the registration fees of the children who play. We expect all parents to participate in a volunteer role.

Please take a look at the different positions below and let us know how you can help out!

We need to fill a few key positions in our board!

To volunteer, please email gwysl.commish@gmail.com

Team Manager

Be the glue that keeps your team together!

Duties: Work with parents on your child’s team to help link them up with volunteer roles, coordinate team snack, and help the coach by communicating games. Also help ensure COVID practices are being followed during games.

Fields & Equipment Assistant Managers

If you want your kid to score a goal, better make sure there’s a net on the field!

Duties: Maintain the league’s equipment, order more when needed. Coordinate with volunteers for field painting—to learn more, email fields@gwysl.org.

Social Media Manager

Share the joy of the league with the world!

Duties: Maintain the league’s social media accounts—to learn more, email gwysl.commish@gmail.com.

And, we always need…

Referees

It may be the only time the kids listen to you on the field!

Duties: Enjoy your child’s game more by becoming a referee and understanding the rules of the game. Each team is to provide one Referee for one game each Saturday. All training and uniforms are provided ahead of the season.

Time commitment: After training, 1 hour per game week for 5-10 weeks. Some folks do more, some folks do a bit less

Contact: Head Referee Doug Hassebroek at referee@gwysl.org for more information.

Field Crew Members

Prefer to contribute in a HUGE way without managing kids? Join our amazing Field Crew!

Duties: Help set up the fields at 7am at BIP or McCarren for 8am games, or break down and put goals away after last games.

Time commitment: 1 hour per week for 5-10 weeks

Contact:  Our Field & Equipment Manager at fields@gwysl.org for more information.

Coaches

You don't need any experience. We'll train you! And you and your child will remember it forever.

Duties: Run games. Enthusiasm and positive attitude are more valuable than knowledge of the game.

Time commitment: Average of 2 hours per week, plus 2 hours training.

Contact: Head Coach, Erik Rodie at coach@gwysl.org for more information.

Special Event Helpers

An easy-peasy way to help the league!

Duties: Help with Special Events like coaches’ night, opening day, and/or the end of season Watermelon & Trophy Party!

Time commitment: 1–2 hours per season. For more info, email Jamie Hook at jamtarthook@gmail.com
